Pickleball draft strategy: build your starting four
A familiar name is a starting point. A four-player roster also needs complementary styles. These are game-specific ideas for pbdraft’s simulated season, not a ranking of professional players.
Think about the whole lineup
You need two women and two men. Consider who can build points patiently, who can attack a short ball, and who stays comfortable in fast exchanges. A Power player and a Kitchen architect suggest different roles; use those archetypes alongside your knowledge of the players.
The labels are editorial game descriptions, not measured shot statistics. No archetype or lineup guarantees a win.
Save a redraw for a real roster need
Two redraws must last all four rounds. Before spending one, consider which roster slot remains and what style would complement your earlier selections. Passing on a usable player can leave you dependent on a later draw.
Let the coach handle your first season
Automatic coaching chooses tactics and mixed pairs for each match without looking at future outcomes. It is the fastest way to play and learn what a lineup does across all 17 opponents.
For a more hands-on run, opt into manual strategies. Consider the soft game for a touch-oriented roster, or shake & bake for power and quick hands. These are situational choices, not automatic winning formulas.
Use unlimited play to test your ideas
After a season, expand the match log to compare scores and tactics. Replaying the same draws in unlimited mode helps you examine different choices within the simulation. A single good result does not prove one lineup is always best.
Know the daily objective
A perfect 17–0 season is the big challenge, but the daily streak only needs 10 wins. The daily pick gives everyone the same draw order and two redraws. Check the daily rules before using your attempt.
